Rick Wellman, salon/spa owner of the Patrick Melville Salon/Spa and celebrity hair colorist has been considered among the most prestigious and well respected in the fashion industry for over 17 years.

Originally from Ohio and possessing a passion for painting, Rick attended advanced cosmetology schools in Toronto and London including Vidal Sasoon, Rita Rusk and Alan International. Rick's experience traveling as a platform artist led him to work with the late and great Paul Mitchell himself and British award winning hairstylist Trevor Sorbie.

Rick's exclusive and innovative coloring technique, Bio-lights, uses 100% biodegradable cotton pads, which allows him to create natural and vibrant highlights—from root to end—less abrasively than with the usual foil coloring. His signature process has been sought after by major hair color companies including Clairol, Redken, Goldwell and Wella. The glamorous results of Rick's work can also be seen in ad campaigns and TV commercials for Pantene, Herbal Essences, Ann Taylor, Rampage, and Gucci.

Rick's reputation proceeds him as he professionally collaborated with esteemed celebrity hair stylist, Patrick Melville creating the silver lining at the first class PATRICK MELVILLE SALON/SPA located in the Sports Club L/A at Rockefeller Plaza in the center of New York City. Rick’s celebrity clients list include Brooke Shields, Mariska Hargitay, Lindsay Lohan, former Miss Universe and Clairol Spokes model, Dayanara Torres and supermodel/survivor Petra Nemcova, to name a few. Prior to the Patrick Melville Salon, Rick served as a top colorist/educator at the renowned Warren-Tricomi Salon in New York and the award winning Charles Penzone in Columbus, Ohio.
