BIO

Luis Guillermo was born in the Colombian Andes Mountains and began his work as a hair stylist in Caracas, Venezuela. After perfecting his skills through both lessons and salon training, Luis relocated to Spain. This new Iberian address allowed him to work on jobs throughout Europe, where he lived for the next 10 years. These varied cultural influences resulted in a dynamic and impressive portfolio with a European flair that he continues to grow with influential clients in both the editorial and advertising worlds. Luis is New York City based, where he has lived since 1995.

Luis Guillermo's Holiday Tips

Hairstylist Luis Guillermo gave us a helpful tip to try this season!

- Before you leave your house for the office  be sure to take a hairtie with you and a small bottle of hair spray as well as a light grooming cream. At work tie your hair in a bun or ponytail; before you headout to the party flip your head to the floor and brush it from the neck to the ends and spray a bit to keep volume and body. Then flip your head up and polish the extreme messiness using a bit your favorite pomade or hair grooming cream and there you go your ready for your party!

Luis Guillermo, Spring Trends

NYC based hairstylist Luis Guillermo shared his Spring tips with us, very helpful tips! To learn how to protect your hair check out his tips for the season. It is very important to prepare your hair with great products and a few treatments for the Spring seasson. Avoid using hair styling products with alcohol which will dry your hair out. Also avoid puting hair styling products directly on your scalp, if you put it on your scalp you'll clog the pores on your head. Temperatures are getting higher, and the beach and pools are so inviting; before getting in the pool; wet your hair so your hair will soak up the initial water instead of the chlorinated water. Use a brush whose bristles are made from natural animal hairs, it is softer and more flexible which means less damage will be done to your hair. Try a leave in conditioner, it'll hydrate and protect your hair. A leave in conditioner on your hair is the equivalent of moisturizer on your face. Put the conditioner in at about an inch away from the scalp, the roots of your hair contain the most oils and usually don't need the extra conditioning. It's the perfect time to trim your hair or even better to give yourself a total new haircut, new color or new shape.
