Ruth Roche

BIO Early in her career, Ruth was trained by the legendary British hairstylist Trevor Sorbie, and quickly earned the position as Trevor's Artistic Director. Arriving in New York City in 1990, Ruth began working for Redken 5th Avenue and in 1999 had excelled to the position of Global Artistic Director. While there, Ruth traveled the world, educating and lecturing, and raised the bar for Redken by helping develop new and exciting products. Ruth soared to the top of the hair industry including being awarded the industry's highest honors by the North American Hairstyling Association including Master Stylist of the year and Stylist of the year among others. Ruth was also named one of the top 75 educators of the century. After all her success in the hair industry, in 2003 Ruth decided to conquer yet another aspect of the beauty business by opening a salon, Rare NYC, and then embarked on a successful freelance editorial career in 2005. Rare, in trendy Tribeca, has quickly earned its name with its sleek, modern yet warm environment and the incomparable talents of Ruth and her team of talented hairstylists she has hand picked and trained. Ruth has quickly made a name for herself editorially and in Hollywood by working with such amazing photographers as Annie Leibiovitz, Gilles Bensimon and Terry Richardson to name a few, and working for magazines including Vanity Fair, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Interview. Ruth's celebrity clients include some of the most famous women in the world including Lindsay Lohan, Laura Linney, Sheryl Crow, Mischa Barton, Sharon Stone, and Claire Daines, among others. Of Ruth's successful endeavors she still finds the time to write the popular monthly column for American Salon Magazine.
