Mary Guthrie
Mary Guthrie was born & raised in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. From an early age Mary was involved in every medium of art, from painting, drawing, sculpting and writing to wildling wood & paper mache. Her mother was a hairstylist & makeup artist which led to her fascination with the alteration of beauty. She would draw faces on paper, then color them in with real makeup. Eventually her mother started carrying the Mary Kaye makeup line, which gave Mary unlimited access to all the makeup she could dream of. Her mother would take her along to house call makeovers & would allow Mary to assist in the education & process of proper application, tones & upkeep of every individual.
While attending Middle school, the school was desperate for new books but didn't have the funding. Mary took it upon herself to organize a meeting with the school directors & administrators and convinced them to do a fashion show as a fundraiser for the new books. Mary got her mother & aunt to help out with the show and they did makeup for over 100 students. The show was a success and they were able to raise enough money for the book for the school. That fashion show made Mary realized her true calling was to work in the fashion industry as a makeup artist.
Mary's work is greatly influenced by the work of Kevyn Aucoin, Bobbi Brown & Andrew Marshall to name a few. She loves the freedom and possibilities that makeup provides her, from creating a complete transformation to highlighting the simple beauty of one's nature!
