BIOGRAPHY

Matin did not set out to conquer the world of beauty. A native of Afghanistan with a Master's degree in Molecular Biology, he was first introduced to the beauty business by a college roommate and ended up doing make-up part time to pay for school. After working as a research scientist for a few years, he realized that he missed the creative and collaborative work with clients.

Since making the transition from scientist to make-up artist, Matin has worked with the who's who of the entertainment industry. His personal client list includes Claire Danes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Cynthia Nixon, Liv Tyler, Rachel Weisz to name a few. In addition to working with celebrity clients he is the Laura Mercier Cosmetics Global Artistry Director and dreams of creating a serious skincare line for cosmocuetical use in the future. He has been featured in the beauty pages of leading fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar and Allure, and his work has graced the covers of Elle, Marie Claire and Nylon. Matin takes part in the creative process of product development as noting make-up trends of the season. Growing up in a huge family that includes six sisters and three Italian Greyhounds, Nettie, Lucy and Roman, and their four legged brother Pablo, Matin lives for the hustle and bustle of New York City life, which he has made his home for many years. In his spare time he enjoys practicing Calligraphy, studying Islamic and Gothic architecture and shopping for exotic ethnic textiles.
