BIO

Growing up as a small-town boy, Troy Surratt spent his early days fantasizing about the beauty and glamour of the big city. Fast-forward a few years and Troy's childhood daydreams became reality when he made his way to New York, working backstage on fashion shows, at shoots for top magazines, and with some of the most beautiful women in the world. Troy is now a leading makeup artist and beauty expert known not only for his talent and vision, but as well for his gentle nature, professional grace, and dedication to excellence and innovation in every aspect of the beauty industry.

 

After high school, Troy got his first taste for beauty while working at a Lancôme counter in Topeka, Kansas. Following his brief introduction to the world of makeup, Troy moved to New York City where he attended both the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design. He ultimately earned a degree in fashion design, but it did not take long for him to realize that his true love was makeup. Troy soon caught the attention of Kevyn Aucoin, who, impressed with Troy's passion and skill, quickly made him his protégé. Troy assisted him for three and a half years, until Kevyn's untimely death in 2002. During his time with Aucoin, Troy also collaborated with businesswoman Maureen Kelly to create the well-known brand, Tarte, and for a time joined online retailer, Beauty.com, as their spokesperson.

 

In 2004, Troy was tapped by Maybelline New York to be their Global Consulting Makeup Artist. As a part of Maybelline, Troy's artistry and expertise were used in international and domestic advertising campaigns and to oversee concepts and new product development.

 

Most recently, Troy has left Maybelline to pursue his freelance makeup career and continue to build his advertising, editorial and celebrity roster. Troy has contributed to several magazines, among them: Vogue, W, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Nylon. His impressive list of celebrity clients includes: LeAnn Rimes, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton, Anna Faris, Charlize Theron, Zooey Deschanel, Kelly Ripa, Martha Stewart, Pamela Anderson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Hillary Duff, Amanda Bynes, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Mandy Moore, Hilary Swank, and Anjelica Houston.
